Disney's apparent disregard for guests.

Ok, so aside from the title this is more of an ask than a criticism. Apparently recently in Walt Disney World a door came off of a monorail. This of course following on from a separate monorail driving with the doors open and yet another where a brake shoe shredded off and fell into the car park.

This is no laughing matter, any of these occurrences could have been fatal to any of your main demographic, children. In extension to this, any of them could possibly be fatal to the adults as well e.g. had that door fell, it could have potentially crushed someone.

So setting what I agree and don't agree about with Disney parks aside, this is a request to either Catherine Powell who is now president of Parks western region or whoever is in charge of health and safety in the parks to please please fix these issues and don't just duct tape the bit that fell off again like you did the last two times. I understand that monorails cost more money than I have probably seen in my 19 years of being alive and I have never actually been to WDW myself but this is serious and if it is Catherine in charge then I know she can do something because due to me following all the ins and outs of Disneyland Paris like a lot of fans do, I have seen the work her leadership has brought while there.

Thank you.

Anniversary special ideas

Disneyland Paris Anniversary Ideas

  • Disney Parks 75th Hard Ticket Party:

  • The Party would have a music setup similar to the one recently held at Disneyland's throwback night (At time of writing). It would also have a count down on the castle when close to the time Walt started his opening speech (at the two or five minute mark) and when the count down finishes, a show will start with a medley of Disney Parks anniversary and parade themes from around the world starting with the parade stop from parade of dreams in Disneyland so it can deliver that special line just on cue. Included for the party will be an hour to ride any rides (except Fantasyland cause of fireworks) in the park free of charge and free food.*

  • Disneyland Paris 50th Castle show ideas:

Castle adaptation different park mish mash of Fantasmic.

Essentially a version of Fantasmic constructed of both Japanese and American versions adapted for the castle.

Maybe an occasional hard ticket event if not possible with general crowds.**
**If hard ticket event, could include a refurbished and I say fully "Fantillusion Prarade".

New Firework show Idea "Disney Generations".

Disney Generations will follow mickey as he travels back to the beginning and reminds himself, by interacting with each scene, The History that Disney Has had over the years with the parks and it's films and TV shows. Maybe more of a Disney company milestone thing, could work for either.

* I am usually against hard ticket events unless they are in winter because it means throwing out hard working, and very lucky general guests early. However, seeing as though this is a one night only for one time ever, this has less ethical implications and most people lucky enough to come from anywhere other than France etc are there for multiple days anyway.

P.S. I will update this when and if I come up with more ideas.

Full Studios Idea Part 2: IP section of the Park

Going down either of the two paths by the side of the Tower of Terror, you come to the IP section of the park which could be any IP you wish but for this example we'll use the ones that have been shown.

Going from the left to right you would have Star Wars, Marvel and maybe not Frozen but something else, I'll tell you why later. They are all connected thought some king of portal or something of the sort and are much more themed and environment rich. in star wars, you are in Batuu I beleive it is called and it looks completely immersive, in Marvel land you are in New York (Possibly) and insert location her for your choice on the third area.

The reason I mentioned no frozen is because currently it hasn't shown that it has lasted the test of time like the other two have and the one comment the studios currently gets is how outdated and irrelevant it is. Therefor if Frozen doesn't stand the test of time but they have build that land then that will be millions wasted and it causes that same comment to arise again.

Thank you for being bothered to read this if you have. My brain had the whole park, and the entertainment thought of and then got aided by elements of the new concept art.

P.S. I know the studios section might not hold up because of it being that way, it was just because I know at least all of my family love the studios as it is and don't really love how they are just capitalising on the IP side of things. Therefor I thought of a park that accepted both sets of guests and also maybe persuaded some of the others with it being much better than it currently is. The problem is that if they do what is on the concept art, then there is no reason for me or my family to go to that park and a half day park became a no day park because beleive it or not we like the tram tour and we like the motors show.

Full studios Idea Part 1: Studios Half of the Park

First of all the entrance, front courtyard, studio 1 and Earfell tower would be kept as is. From the other side of studio 1 to the proposed lake, would be Hollywood Boulevard. Directly across the lake would be the Tower of Terror to complete the Hollywood look.

Going clockwise around the lake, we would first come across the studios lot that contains some sound stages including a slightly moved studio 3. There is also a few film crews wandering the area doing various tasks to add to the stratosphere. This area will also provide what I think is a Disney Parks first of having the ability to be in a short film through the photo pass service offering video. This will utilise the set piece that is also in this area.

Next, where star wars is supposed to reside according to the concept art will be the first of two pavements leading to the second section of the park.

Then we reach the tower itself that is the version of current but with a full courtyard like the WDW version.

Where Frozen land is going would be the second access point to the second area to the park.

Finally, we come to the animation studios themed land, directly opposite the studio area from before. this will house some more cartoon looking building as well as providing an entrance to the Toon Town area behind it.

And then we have come full circle.

Similar Idea, Different Idea

I recently saw the news on twitter of the major expansion for Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris. I didn't know what to think at first, because yes I admit me and my mother may be the only two people on earth that like the studio theme. The thing I just dislike when Disney  does the IP treatment to everything is that it is causing irreversible damage that can't be reversed if suddenly that IP brushes with people the wrong way and becomes unpopular, and in terms of DLP that could mean back to the problem the park had in the first place.

Strangely enough though some of the ideas that they have come up with in the last year or so for the Disney parks I seem to have thought of them before they happened in the parks. My thoughts on the execution of the happenings wasn't one hundred percent the same, but the idea was there.

For example, I thought it would be nice if they had a royal address in the Disneyland park for rope drop by the resident princess Sleeping Beauty in the hub. Then it happened (Kind of) in the 12th April Grand Celebration. Then I also thought that it would be good if they extended the projections of the fireworks to main street as well as the castle. Then Hong Kong Disney announced it was happening (Kind of).

And of Course, this was one of those situations as no longer than two or three weeks ago, I came up with this basic idea of the new layout of the Studios.

Note: Blogger won't let me upload the image so you can see it here.

And that comes to my main point. This is that the way I thought about it was that it would take the studio theme and make it better with much more themeing and streetmosphere to keep the guests that liked the studios park and possibly make some more like it as well. In addition to improving the Hollywood section, they could also have an extended plot behind the tower of terror to make lands based on IP so that it is a mix of both worlds.

This would then have the Toon Studios where you could meet your favourite cartoon characters, learn how to draw cartoon characters and have several rides dedicated to the toon side of Disney especially in ToonTown. Followed by the Hollywood Boulevard and Lake Holly wood section where you walk through the extended front lot. Then you could learn the process of making movies and be in one yourself by a new use of the photo-pass system that allows videos so you can star in your own little commercial or reminder of your trip.

Once you have finished all the Back stage and Holly wood things, you could then go behind the Tower of Terror to find a collection of your favourite worlds from Star wars to Ratatouille and beyond.

Again, as my original point was, same idea different execution. My way would have caused a lot more disruption with the demolishing of almost all the park, but I feel it would have paid off much better.

I will provide the desired shows and events list in a future post, I just want to know what you would have thought about this design if they were doing it this way.

P.S. Let me just mention I am not at the time of writing this post, employed or have any connections with Disney or Disneyland Paris. I just seem to have similar ideas to what they are announcing for the parks around the world.

Game Idea

Couldn't there be a theme park building game that offer you a choice on what level of detail/difficulty you want? By this I mean going anywhere from just building rides and working with balancing money to building rides, hotels, backstage areas, car parks, creating construction sites and everything else that real theme parks have to consider while balancing money and reputation.

Some may say this is tedious and doesn't need to be included but I think that it shows devotion and care into the subject you're making a game about as well as hitting that audience that hasn't had a full on simulation yet.

In addition to this, if VR catches on in the future you could add the feature of role-playing as one of your guests and see if your park meets your expectations and hopes.
